Welcome Back, Send Off

May 8, 2010

Last night I attended a Peace Corps Welcome Back, Send Off event that included nearly 200 people. This included nominees, invitees, and returned volunteers from as early as 1962. Yes, that’s right, 1962.

It was great to see the span of the Peace Corps community that brought all of these people together, and to be a part of it.

All nominees, invitees, and returned volunteers shared where and when they had/were expecting to serve.

I got to say “I’m going to Bulgaria, on Monday morning.” It was very cool to feel all of the energy in the room as so many Peace Corps people were gathered together to celebrate the very different, but still similar adventures shared by all.

Anyways, it was great to see the Peace Corps Community in full force, and I’m happy to be a part of it.
